When the snow is deep and the fir trees glisten in the winter light, the Christmas spirit automatically sets in. Many of our guests choose to rent a cozy mountain cabin over the weekends – light a fire, set the table for a Christmas dinner in peace and quiet, or why not surprise the children with a visit from Santa Claus right at the cabin?
Compete against Santa Claus in our fun Santa Claus race on Christmas Eve. Young and old, beginners and professionals, everyone is welcome. Participation is free, no registration required. Our calendar will be updated with activities during the fall with current dates and times.
After a day on the slopes, Christmas food tastes extra good, and the evenings invite you to play board games, relax, and spend time together.
Skiing and winter activities
Fjätervålen offers Dalarna’s longest ski slopes and a wide range of runs for all levels. There is plenty of space on both the slopes and the lifts – you avoid queues and crowds, and get more time on your skis.
For cross-country skiers, there are miles of groomed trails through mountain forests and across open expanses. Want to experience something out of the ordinary? Try snowshoeing, summit hiking, or a dog sled ride – an unforgettable winter activity for the whole family.

New Year’s Eve in Fjätervålen is something very special. Here we celebrate the new year in the tranquility of nature – with good food, torchlight slalom, snow games, and perhaps a hot chocolate outdoors in the middle of the winter night.
